Digireg Kenya Limited carried out a comprehensive mapping and analysis of spatial data of Nakuru City with the aim of creating a spatial database that provides planners, decision-makers, and the community with timely, accurate, and relevant information on urban development issues.
The project produced a detailed and timely map of the city using digital mapping techniques and field surveys, emphasizing natural features, zoning, land use, and vital infrastructure. Nakuru City has benefited greatly from the initiative. Effective infrastructure construction is now supported by accurate geographical data, which makes it possible to build roads, manage water resources, and distribute utilities effectively. In order to improve disaster preparedness, the city has also obtained data and tools for environmental management, such as the ability to detect regions that are susceptible to flooding or other natural hazards.
Through this working partnership, Nakuru has taken a step toward becoming a city prepared to meet the challenges of urbanization and offer a higher quality of life to its residents.
